IU President McRobbie to hold Open Office Hours for students

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University students will be able to meet one-on-one with President Michael McRobbie during regularly scheduled "Open Office Hours" at the university's Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses.

McRobbie will hold his first open office hours at IU Bloomington on Friday, Aug. 31, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and at IUPUI on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from noon to 1 p.m.

$11M Grant Will Enhance Cardiac Care in Children

The National Institutes of Health has provided $11.5 million in support to the Indiana University School of Medicine for the only institutional grant looking at the cause and treatment of heart failure in children.

Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect in children and many of those structural abnormalities can lead to heart failure. This pediatric cardiology research grant is part of a strategy to encourage new collaborations among basic scientists, clinical cardiologists and heart surgeons.

New Nursing Mother’s Room Available on Campus

A dedicated space for nursing mothers is now available on the IUPUI campus. The IUPUI Nursing Mother's Room is the first such designated space on campus where a new and nursing mother can go to either nurse her infant in a private, comfortable and sanitary place or express milk for later use.

Herron Library to Hold Artists' Books FIVE ALIVE exhibit

The Herron Art Library will present a juried exhibit and lecture/discussion about artists' books on Friday, Oct. 3, 2007. The project, entitled FIVE ALIVE, was conceived as part of the Year of Kurt Vonnegut and is a collaboration with the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library's One Book One City program.

IUPUI Wins "Most Collected Supplies" Award

IUPUI won the award for "most collected supplies" for this year's BackPack Attack school supply drive.

IUPUI collected over 28,000 supplies as well as over $1,400 in cash.

"We would like to thank everyone who participated in the drive this year for working so hard and making this the most successful drive yet," said Marty Posch, of External Affairs. The BackPack Attack itself collected over 400,000 supplies this year giving school supplies to every IPS school as well as serving over 2,900 kids at the Children’s Museum.
