Inaugural Indianapolis Prize Winner/Crane Conservation Icon to Speak
at IUPUI

The inaugural winner of the world’s largest cash prize for conservation will present a public lecture next month at IUPUI.

George Archibald, recipient of the first-ever Indianapolis Prize, will discuss his crane conservation efforts at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at the University Place Auditorium, 850 W. Michigan St. The lecture is free and open to the general public.

IU Trustees to Hold Open Presidential Forums at IUPUI

IU Trustees will lead two open forums at IUPUI to solicit advice and recommendations from students, faculty and staff on the search for the 18th president of Indiana University.

Symposium on Mexican Immigration

A symposium on Mexican immigration will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in Room 115 at University College, 815 W. Michigan Street.

This educational event will be comprised of two moderated panels. The first panel will examine Mexico’s culture of emigration and the legal issues faced by immigrants in the U.S. The second panel will focus on contemporary issues faced by Mexican immigrants in Central Indiana.

Morrone appointed Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning Information Technologies

Anastasia S. Morrone has joined the Indiana University Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO as associate dean for Teaching and Learning Information Technologies. In her new role, Morrone will coordinate and promote technology services in support of teaching and learning in partnership with academic units and faculty on all IU campuses. Morrone, who served most recently as executive director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at IUPUI, will continue her appointment in the IU School of Education as associate professor.

Herron Exhibit Openings Include Reception and Artist Lecture

Do you enjoy art, conversation, good food and meeting new people? Come to Herron from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Sept. 8) for a reception and opening of two exhibitions.

The evening event features a slide lecture by artist and sculpture Diane Simpson at 6 p.m. in the Basile Auditorium. The lecture marks the opening of an exhibit of Simpson’s sculptures in the Eleanor Prest Reese & Robert B. Berkshire Galleries.

In addition to the Simpson lecture, a second exhibit of paintings and drawings of Prix de Rome winner and Herron Professor Emeritus Harry A. Davis is the focus of the inaugural opening of the Frank & Katrina Basile Gallery.
