James Perry to Receive Paul P. Van Riper Award

James Perry, Chancellor’s Professor and Director, American Democracy Project, at IUPUI has been selected to receive the Paul P. Van Riper Award for Excellence and Service. The award is presented to an American Society for Public Administration member who has made significant contributions to both the academic and practitioner communities of public administration. Awardees distinguish themselves through their current active engagement in and contributions to developing the public service of the future.

Herron Galleries To Exhibit Thompsons’ Private Contemporary Art Collection

Visitors to the Herron Galleries at the Herron School of Art and Design, Indianapolis, will be treated to a sampling from the private contemporary art collection of John and Norma Thompson.

Long-time friends of Herron and active patrons of the Indianapolis arts community, the Thompsons collect abstract art as well as figurative and historical pieces created by African-American artists. The collection includes the works of Romare Bearden, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Norman Lewis, Jacob Lawrence, Sam Gilliam, Richard Hunt, Elizabeth Catlett and more.

Staff Council Awareness Month is Here

Visit the Staff Council website at www.iupui.edu/ ~scouncil to find the following information:

  • Play IUPUI-opoly every week in March to win! The top winner(s) will receive a gym bag donated by the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. All prizes will be awarded by April 15th.
  • In honor of Staff Council Awareness Month, the Staff Council would like to spotlight a few good staff members who are making a difference here at IUPUI and in the community. Nominations will be accepted through March 3rd.
  • Nominations for the Gerald L. Bepko Staff Council Spirit Award will be accepted through March 3rd. The winner will be announced by April 3rd.

Internationally Renowned Sculptor Wim Delvoye to Lecture at Herron School of Art and Design

Belgium-born Wim Delvoye, one of the most famous sculptors working today, will lecture at Herron School of Art and Design March 7, 2006.

Working from his studio in Berlin, Delvoye has gained international recognition through his participation in major exhibitions including the Venice Biennale in 1990 and 1999 and Documenta IX in 1992. More recent projects include an exhibition for the Public Art Fund entitled "Wim Delvoye: Gothic," which was on view in Central Park and at Madison Square Park and survey exhibitions at the Musée d'Art Contemporain, Lyon, France and...
