IUPUI offers many different scholarship opportunities, through endowed and institutional support, reflecting the campus' rich and diverse population. Katherine Tyler Scott (center), president of Trustee Leadership Development, is shown flanked by IUPUI faculty and first-year scholarship recipients. More than 300 IUPUI students attended this fall's Scholars' Day Reception held in honor of scholarship recipients. Scott was the guest speaker. Scholars' Day, sponsored by University College, invites students, their families and guests to campus to celebrate the achievements of scholarship winners.

BUSINESS CREATES SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF BELOVED STUDENT ADVISOR
Ginny Marzke, who died of cancer last month, was described by faculty as a surrogate mother and personal mentor to hundreds of students during her 14 years at the Kelley School of Business. In her honor, the school has created an academic-based scholarship for an undergraduate business student. To make a contribution, please contact Marcia Owens at 4-3980.

HERRON TAKES HOME TOP PRINTMAKING HONOR
The University of Texas at Austin has named Herron's undergraduate printmaking program one of the top three programs in the world. In honor of that designation, printmaking students Christi Blizzard and Jason Cavan (work shown above) will have their works included in an international exhibition hosted by the University of Texas at Austin next spring.

$105 MILLION GRANT FROM LILLY ENDOWMENT TO IU FUELS INDIANA GENOMICS INITIATIVE
In the summer of 2000, the Human Genome Project finished the working draft of the human genetic code. Starting in 2001, the Indiana Genomics Initiative referred to as INGEN, will undertake the even more daunting task of deciphering what it means. A $105 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. has positioned Indiana University to take a commanding role in the promising field of genomics research.
