Earlier this year, the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology ran this photo as part of an ad promoting engineering and technology as careers for women.

ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY RANKS HIGH IN NATIONAL REPORT
The School of Engineering and Technology ranked high in several categories of the American Society for Engineering Education's annual publication "Engineering Education By the Numbers" for 2000. The school ranked fourth in the nation in number of engineering technology degrees awarded to women, eighth in engineering technology degrees awarded overall, and eighth in total engineering technology enrollment.

Engineering technology degrees differ from engineering degrees in that they teach students technical methods and practices enabling them to apply technology to the solutions of industrial problems. Engineering degrees prepare students in the principles and theories needed to plan, design, and create new products.
