STUDENTS, STAFF JAM SHUTTLE BUSES WITH DONATED FOOD
IUPUI students, staff and faculty collected a record number of donations for the fourth annual "Jam the Jaguars Bus" food drive on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Together, the IUPUI campus filled three Jaguar shuttle buses and a pick-up truck with non-perishable goods.
"I'm proud to see how many donations came from the campus," said Bonnie Krug, a community outreach assistant for IUPUI. "Along with tons of canned foods, we received quite a few boxes of diapers and baby food. One office even gave us can openers."
Along with collecting hundreds of boxes of food items, students, staff and faculty donated $340 to local charities. Donations were delivered to 12 local charities, including Lighthouse Mission which received more than 1,400 pounds of donated items. According to Krug, items donated to Lighthouse Mission were likely to be distributed to families within the week. Some of the other charities who benefited were Gleaners Food Bank and Dayspring Center.
Krug said about 23 volunteers helped make the "Jam the Jaguars Bus" food drive a success.
