Herron students channeled their artistic energies into dressing up their “blank canvasses”—solid maple children’s chairs provided by Glendale Mall—with hand painting, faux finishes, and 3-D applications, including Spiderman and Pacer's Pride chairs.

Creative Collaboration Between Herron School of Art and Design and Glendale Mall Benefits Prevent Child Abuse Indiana
To strengthen its community relations initiative, the Herron School of Art and Design partnered with Glendale Mall on "Art For Their Sake," a project to benefit Prevent Child Abuse Indiana. By transforming small wooden chairs into works of art, Herron has helped generate funding for programs aimed at preventing child abuse and neglect.

Faculty, staff and students will “Jam the Jaguars Bus” from noon to 1 p.m. November 23. Most needed items include meals-in-a-can, canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, bread, rice, pasta, crackers, and personal hygiene and household items such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo and diapers. Individuals and groups may “buy” a seat on the bus by donating $50 to one of the benefiting charities and churches.

Donations may be sent to the IUPUI Community Outreach Office, 355 N. Lansing St., AO 136, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
