STORM-DAMAGED PHOTOS ACCEPTED SATURDAY, NOV. 2 FOR RESTORATION
Herron School of Art photography students at IUPUI will offer free restoration services to anyone who had photographs damaged in September's tornadoes, from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Herron Photo Lab, 222 W. Michigan Street, at the corner of Senate Avenue and Michigan Street. Under a recently formed community service group called Art from the Ashes (AftA), the damaged photographs will be scanned, repaired and printed out on glossy photo paper in their original size. Student photographers will attempt to make the photos look as close to their previous, undamaged states as possible, and return the restored artwork by mid December.
A panel of students will evaluate the photographs and accept them for restoration if they meet the following criteria:
1. Photographs must be dry and relatively free of debris.
2. Photographs must be labeled with the family name and phone number on the back.
3. Photographs must be 8 x 10 inches or smaller.
4. A limit of five photographs per family will be accepted.
For more information, please call Mary Goodwin, project director at (317) 475-9396.
