State of the Campus
Faculty, staff and students are invited to the State of the Campus address by IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, in the University Place Conference Center auditorium.

IUPUI Hosts Another Successful Day of Learning and Discovery



The campus opened its doors to the community for Explore IUPUI on Sept. 18. Entertainment for campus visitors included the hip hop moves of a dance troupe on the Arts & Entertainment Plaza Community Performance Stage (left). Visitors were also able to use a solar telescope to view gases erupting from the sun’s surface (right, bottom), or participate in a live video production (right, top) and take a copy of the finished project home.




IU School of Medicine is organizing an Oct. 31 conference that will convene some of the world’s chief experts on HIV/AIDS. IUSM’s Dr. Joseph Mamlin, co-founder of the Indiana University-Moi University Partnership Program in Kenya, is one of the conference leaders. Experts on Global HIV/AIDS to Gather in Indy Oct. 31
In 2003, more than 3 million people worldwide died from AIDS and nearly twice that number acquired the human immunodeficiency virus. Behind those grim statistics is what must be done to curb the staggering epidemic of HIV/AIDS in the developing world.

Beginning on January 13, 2005, the School of Physical Education and Tourism Management at IUPUI will offer a new three credit hour class: Introduction to Microbrewing. Students taking the course must be at least 21 years of age.

Conference to Celebrate 20th Year of IUPUI Public History Program
Established in 1984, the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis public history program is one of the nation's premier programs for graduate training in the field. IUPUI public history alumni are employed as historical consultants, editors, historic preservationists, curators, museum educators and archivists.
