The eighth annual United Way Chili for Charity cook-off will take place from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1 on the North Breezeway, located under the Business/SPEA Building near the Technology Building. Tickets for Chili Bowl '02 are $5 for three bowls of chili, a drink, and a dessert. |

PLANS FOR BEAUTIFY IUPUI SET; VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
IUPUI Chancellor Gerald Bepko and the Campus Campaign steering committee invite you to participate in "Beautify IUPUI" Friday, Oct. 11, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Beautify IUPUI is a voluntary campus cleanup event developed to ensure the campus looks its best for Explore IUPUI Oct. 12. This event also provides an opportunity to contribute to IUPUI through your gift of time. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. in the courtyard in front of University College under the tent. The kickoff program is at 2:00 p.m. with opening remarks made by Chancellor Gerald L. Bepko. Volunteers will be directed to cleanup zones. Gloves, tools, and refreshments will be provided. A Campus Facility Services staff zone manager will be available in all cleanup zones to assist and guide volunteers. If you would like to participate, please RSVP to Cathy Edgin at cedgin@iupui.edu. IN WAKE OF SEPTEMBER 11 ATTACKS, STATE TURNS TO PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM AT IUPUI TO HELP IT PREPARE FOR POTENTIAL BIOTERRORISM THREATS
Public health has been on the back burner in Indiana, but since September 11, 2001, the flame has been turned up. Confronted with the need to prepare for bioterrorism, the state has enlisted the IU School of Medicine's Department of Public Health at IUPUI, the only academic department of public health in Indiana.
