A DAY OF FUN

STUDY BY NURSING PROFESSORS CONTINUES TO DRAW NATIONAL ATTENTION
Nursing professors Betsy Joyce and Juanita Keck continue to receive national attention for a recent study they completed about the effect of music on newborns undergoing painful procedures. The study conducted by Joyce, Keck and University of Minnesota professor Janis Gerkensmeyer showed that babies who listened to lullabies during circumcision and blood sampling had significantly less pain by the end of the procedure and maintained a steady heart rate throughout. Good Housekeeping reported the study in their October issue. The two IUPUI professors have also been interviewed for upcoming issues of Fit Pregnancy and Babytalk magazines.
