PEOPLE MOVER CONSTRUCTION AFFECTS CAMPUS TRAFFIC FLOW
Clarian Health has advised that due to construction on the north side of the IUPUI campus, northbound University Boulevard between Indiana Avenue and 10th Street will be closed from August 12th until September 1st, 2002. In addition, eastbound 10th Street will be closed from Indiana Avenue past University Boulevard and southbound University will be restricted to one lane between 10th Street and Indiana Avenue.

IUPUI Mascot Jinx and Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR) volunteers collected back-to-school supplies from morning commuters on August 7 and 8, as part of a community outreach project called BackPack Attack. The street drive wrapped up IUPUI's drive to furnish school supplies for needy children attending IPS schools. BackPack Attack is sponsored by Bridges to Success, a partnership between United Way of Central Indiana and IPS.

IUPUI EXPERT SAYS CENTRAL INDIANA BECOMING LESS RURAL
In the last decade, the face of Central Indiana has become less rural. In fact, the land with less than one person per acre--the type of land which is undeveloped, forest, or farmland--has declined by more than 23,000 acres in Central Indiana, according to a report released by the Center for Urban Policy and the Environment at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis.

DIGITAL ATLAS OF SOUTHWESTERN INDIANA COMPLETED BY INDIANA GEOLOGICAL SURVEY
The Indiana Geological Survey has made available the most detailed atlas of southwestern Indiana ever produced. Overlayed atop digital satellite photos are more than 170 layers of geographic information showing the positions of highways, railroads, churches and other important features.

JOB FAIR WILL BRING 70+ EMPLOYERS TO CAMPUS
The IUPUI Student Employment & Internship Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, from 12 - 4 p.m. on the University College courtyard. More than 70 employers will be available to meet with students. Some of the employers who will be in attendance include the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Household Finance, UPS, FedEx, and the FBI. Members of the Indiana House of Representatives and the Indiana State Senate staff will also be on hand to recruit interns for the upcoming Indiana General Assembly. Students in attendance will be offered sodas, goodie bags and a chance to win one of three palm pilots.
