IU Dental School Mobile Clinic Serves Low-Income Children
What is the most common childhood disease? You might say asthma, chicken pox, or the common cold, but according to the Office of the Surgeon General, the answer is tooth decay. In fact, children miss more than 50 million hours of school each year due to dental problems, the office reports.

The surgeon general’s findings are underscored by the work of an Indiana University School of Dentistry team that has taken to the streets. Since March, the team has examined the teeth of more than 1,000 Indiana children on a new mobile clinic. [Complete details]

Faculty Orientation sessions are scheduled throughout the summer to provide new faculty with an overview of Indiana University's benefit package.

New faculty should attend one of the following sessions, preferably the session that is closest to his/her appointment date:

Thursday, July 24 University Library, Room 1116
Wednesday, August 6 Riley Outpatient Center, Lower Level, Room A
Friday, August 22 Union Building, Room 372
Wednesday, August 27 University Library, Room 1116
Thursday, September 11 Union Building, Room 372

Each "brown bag" session is scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. Faculty can bring their lunch and dine during the session. An overview of benefit plans will be presented the first hour followed by a half-hour question-and-answer period. Staff will be available to assistance faculty in completing the enrollment form.

Because the new Human Resources Management System (HRMS) has affected the benefits enrollment process, it is imperative that new faculty register before attending one of these sessions. This will ensure that the new faculty member's customized Benefit Program Enrollment Form will be available. To register for one of the sessions, contact a benefits specialist at 274-4596 or benefits@iupui.edu.
