DENTAL PROFESSOR HONORED FOR SMOKING CESSATION WORK
The Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County recently honored dental Professor Arden Christen for his work to help people stop smoking. He received the Health Professional Star Award at the organization's annual dinner last month. Other honorees included School of Medicine Clinical Professor Emeritus George Rawls and Mayor Bart Peterson. Proceeds of the dinner support tuition assistance for minority School of Medicine students.
IUPUI GRADUATE STUDENTS TAKE HOME AWARDS AT ANNUAL RESEARCH COMPETITION
The IU Medical Center Chapter of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society held its annual Graduate Student Research Competition on April 15 and 16 at the Daly Student Center on campus. The three students selected for outstanding oral research presentations, as well as the six students selected for honorable mention, will receive awards at a formal reception on May 20 at 2 p.m. in the Medical Sciences Building Atrium. The overall winner will be presented with the David M. Gibson Award, sponsored annually by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to honor its former chair.
