Three faculty members were awarded Joseph T. Taylor Excellence in Diversity Awards during the Feb. 14 Taylor Symposium.

Acting Chancellor William Plater (bottom photo, left) presented the awards during a luncheon that featured Chicago community activist and environmentalist Orrin Williams (top left) as keynote speaker.

Gina Sanchez Gibau (top middle), assistant professor of anthropology in the IU School of Liberal Arts, and Monica Medina (top right), clinical lecturer in the IU School of Education, received awards for their individual contributions to promoting diversity at IUPUI.


Marchusa Huff (bottom photo, right), associate professor of nursing, and program director of the Minority Research Scholars Program (MRSP), was presented a Taylor award in recognition of MRSP's success in building diversity on campus.

The complex of one-, two- and four-bedroom apartments, located on the west side of campus, is currently scheduled to open to its first students in August. Cross-Cultural Program Founder Is First to Hold Endowed Communication Studies Position
The founder of a program that has helped more than 200 Indiana businesses and nonprofit agencies bridge cross-cultural communication gaps in their workplaces will spearhead the advancement of intercultural communication studies at IUPUI.

Education Students & Faculty Provide Insight on Perception-Based Teaching
Fourteen Indiana University School of Education students from the IUPUI campus joined Education faculty and a handful of IPS teachers from the Key Learning Community in a presentation at the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers’ (HASTI) annual meeting at the Indiana Convention Center, Feb. 20. The presentation, entitled, “Designing Lessons from Children’s Conceptions,” explored how teachers can improve their own understanding of science concepts and improve science instruction by addressing subject matter from a child’s point of view.
