IUPUI Social Work students Mary Jones (front, left to right), Dana Romanenko-Heinrich and Tim Owens were among the hundreds of social workers and social work students from colleges and universities across Indiana who recently marched at the State House to urge lawmakers to improve Indiana's social services, including services for abused children and their families.

The event was part of Legislative Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD), started four years ago to help social workers and social work students increase their advocacy and presence at the State House, said Marion Wagner, an IU School of Social Work faculty member at IUPUI who helped plan the event.
