IUPUI Health and Dental Team Supports Mexican Village
IUPUI Chancellor Charles Bantz and Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson announced an agreement between the Indiana University Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing at IUPUI, and Calnali, Hidalgo, Mexico, to provide health care and education to an underserved Mexican village. Details of the partnership were presented during a signing ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the University Place Conference Center & Hotel. Other speakers included Calnali Mayor Heron Acosta Montano; Mexican Consul Sergio Aguilera; and Columbus Mayor Fred Armstrong. Susan Sutton, Associate Dean for International Programs, emceed the event.

Madame Walker Theatre Center Exhibit Opens with Reception February 11
The Madame Walker Theatre Center, a community partner of IUPUI, takes center stage in the first level lobby of the IUPUI University Library with an exhibit showcasing the center’s history and programs. An opening reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 11. David Lewis, dean of the library, and Cynthia Holmes-Gardner, president of the theatre center, will welcome guests with remarks at 5:15 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

IUPUI School Of Science Uses $1.6 Million Research Grant to Advance Drug Discovery Research
The IUPUI School of Science on Jan. 28 announced they will use a $1.6 million grant awarded by the 21st Century Research and Technology Fund to move regenerative biology into the drug discovery pipeline. The grant will be used over the next two years by the Indiana University Center for Regenerative Biology and Medicine to study the body’s ability to regenerate its own cells in eye, spinal cord and limb tissue.
