TAYLOR SYMPOSIUM TO ADDRESS ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
Urban environment issues such as water quality and the use of former industrial lands known as "brown fields" will be the focus of panel discussions and the keynote address of the 14th annual Joseph Taylor Symposium. The symposium, sponsored by the IU School of Liberal Arts, will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at the University Place Conference Center.
Chicago-area environmental crusader Orrin Williams will deliver the keynote address for the symposium which has as its theme, "Environmental Justice: Resurrecting Our Neighborhoods." Williams has worked diligently on environmental projects in and around Chicago for the past 12 years
Symposium attendance is free. Tickets for lunch are $30. Luncheon seating is limited to 260 people. To register for lunch tickets, call (317) 274-5053 by Feb. 5.
The Taylor Symposium was established to honor Joseph T. Taylor, the first dean of the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI. Taylor, who died in September 2000, is remembered for his commitment to dialogue and diversity.
