IUPUI will once again mark the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday with a "Day-On" of community service.

HERRON GALLERY EXHIBIT SHOWCASES FURNITURE AS ART
While you may have considered that 100-year-old desk or that unique modern table more than just a piece of furniture, you may have never thought of furniture as art.
Furniture designer Wendy Maruyama, whose work will be on display at Herron Gallery Jan. 9 - Feb. 2, will likely change your mind. The exhibit, entitled "The Inside Story," will focus on furniture's interior versus exterior and include pieces such as cabinets, vanities, trunks, chests and more that she designed and created herself.

HERRON STUDENTS CREATE POSTERS FOR KELLEY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
The Kelley School of Business looked a little different when students returned to classes after holiday break. Eleven different posters created by visual communication students at Herron’s IRIS Centre for Digital Arts are now hanging on walls throughout the school. The posters depict the various business disciplines within the school. The collaborative project, which started more than a year ago, grew out of a casual conversation between Herron Dean Valerie Eickmeier and Kelley Dean Roger Schmenner.

IUPUI CHOIR FORMING
IUPUI faculty, staff and students who love to sing are invited to join the new IUPUI University Choir. Robert Townsend, a well-known conductor and pianist, will lead the choir. Rehearsals began January 9 and will continue on Wednesdays from 11:45-12:45 p.m. in the Mary Cable Building, Room 012. The choir will sing a wide array of literature, including classical, contemporary, sacred and secular music. A brief audition will be required. IUPUI ATHLETICS AUCTION SET FOR FEBRUARY 6
The second Annual Jaguars Athletics Club Auction, "An Evening in the Jungle," will be held February 6 at the University Place Conference Center. The evening begins at 6 p.m. Last year, the event raised more than $30,000 for IUPUI athletics scholarships.
