IUPUI Homecoming

HOMECOMING IN FEBRUARY
IUPUI will be celebrating in the style of Mardis Gras for Homecoming this year on Feb. 10. The theme, "Jazzy Jaguars," will lend itself to a variety of events the week prior including a parade, pep rally, costume contest and more. The annual brunch will be held at 11 a.m. in University College and will be followed by the men's and women's basketball games against Southern Utah. For more information, call 274-8905.

SEVEN FREE THROWS IN CLOSING SECONDS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE, AS JAGUARS WIN OVER VALPARAISO
Equaling their best start in the Mid-Continent Conference, the Jaguars begin a four-game road trip that likely will see senior guard Angie Watt score her 1,000th point.

IUPUI junior guard Amber Holle (above left) shot 25 consecutive free throws, setting a new school record for consecutive free throws made in a single season. Her streak began December 28 and ended January 8, when the Jaguars beat Valparaiso.

Senior guard Angie Watt (above right) is only 12 points away from scoring 1,000 points.

IUPUI CELEBRATES DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.
More than 100 IUPUI staff, faculty and students will perform volunteer services at 13 community sites in honor of King's life of service. The celebration will continue in the evening when the Black Student Union presents the 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Dinner, featuring Black Entertainment Television talk show host Tavis Smiley.

IUPUI STUDENTS HELP LOCAL NONPROFITS TO USE COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
When a local youth agency surveyed its member organizations, it discovered that 60 percent did not have a technology plan, nearly half did not budget for technology maintenance, and more than 40 percent did not have access to the internet. The agency and IUPUI have joined forces to bring the benefits of technology to organizations that serve kids.

HERRON TO HOST BIENNIAL EXHIBIT FEATURING HOOSIER CERAMICISTS
An exhibit featuring contemporary ceramic art from all across the state opened at Herron on Wednesday. Stephen Carter, a professor at the University of Vermont whose work is shown above, served as juror for the exhibit and awarded more than $5000 in prize money to participating artists during the opening

RUFUS REIBERG READING SERIES ANNOUNCED
Four nationally recognized authors - Richard Jones, Reginald Shepherd, Patricia Goedicke, and Ronald Wallace - will be featured in the Spring 2001 Rufus Reiberg Reading Series. The IUPUI School of Liberal Arts Department of English Creative Writing Program and the IUPUI University Library collaborate to present the series, established in 1997 with an endowment in honor of Dr. Reiberg, the late chair of the Liberal Arts Department of English.
