Office of Professional Development Summer Sessions

The Office for Professional Development is offering its summer sessions for faculty.

Three upcoming tech camps are designed to help faculty members become more familiar with the benefits of technology in their classrooms. All three one-day camps are restricted to faculty only. Workshop dates, times and descriptions are as follows:

•   TECH CAMP LEVEL I

Tuesday, July 10 - Thursday, July 12
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
University Library Room 1125M

Tech Camp Level 1 is designed for faculty just beginning to work with online tools. Faculty participants are not required to have knowledge of HTML or to have a lot of computer experience. However, participants should have some basic word processing skills and be familiar with Internet browsing.

•   TECH CAMP LEVEL II

Tuesday, July 17 - Thursday, July 19
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Tech Camp Level II focuses on online web page design for customizing course development. Topics include web page design planning and layout, as well as basic creation, conversion, and enhancement of digital images for the web.

•   TECH CAMP LEVEL III

Tuesday, July 24 - Thursday, July 26
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
University Library Room 1125M


Tech Camp Level III allows participants to incorporate audio and video source material into their web-based courses. This will include learning to digitize and edit audio and video media. Participants will learn about the appropriate length for clips and how to optimize media for the best-looking presentation.

•   COURSE PLANNING WORKSHOP

This workshop will address the basic elements of course design. Topics covered will include preparing a syllabus, setting goals and objectives, designing instructional activities, assessment, and the first day of class.
