Summer Camp Programs Available at the IUPUI Sport Complex

Registration is now open for the 2003 IUPUI Sport Complex Summer Camp programs.

The Summer Day Camp is back for its 17th year. Children, ages 5 - 12, can enjoy up to nine weeks of fun, learning new sports and activities and making new friends.

The Sport Complex also offers seven different sports camps at the IUPUI Sport Complex. Sports offered include: diving, synchronized swimming, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, and track and field.

Announcing May Workshops for Supervisors, Staff, and Others

The IUPUI Human Resources Administration is offering numerous training opportunities for supervisors, staff and other interested individuals. Offerings include topics on human resource issues, management, and professional staff development, as well as HRA's traditional Fundamentals of Supervision series.

The training and development opportunities for May include:

•  Developing an Emotionally Intelligent Workplace: 9 a.m. - noon, Tuesday, May 6, University Library Room 1126.

•  The Art of Getting What You Want in Life (Negotiations for Living): 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, May 8, University Library Room 1116.

•  Building Employee Commitment: 9 a.m. - noon, Tuesday, May 13, University Library Room 1126.

•  Supervising Student Employees: 9 a.m. - noon, Tuesday, May 20, Union Building Room 372.

•  Customer Service for Supervisors: 9 a.m. - noon, Wednesday, May 21, Union Building Hoosier Room (UN 2nd floor).

Tea and Garden Party to Honor Legacy of Indiana Author

Women of all ages, and the men who believe in them, are invited to join the Friends of Women's Studies at IUPUI for a tea party in celebration of the life of Indiana author and naturalist Gene Stratton-Porter.

The Celebration of Gene Stratton-Porter Tea & Garden Party will be held from 4 - 6 p.m., Thursday, May 1 on the lawns of Cedar Crest and Lilly House, 5801 and 5807 Sunset Lane. Tea party activities include a presentation by Martha Schwartlander, curator of the Gene Stratton-Porter Historical Site, maypole dances, and self-guided tours of Cedar Crest and Lilly House.

Stratton-Porter, who died in 1924 at age 61, is one of the state's most widely read authors. She authored 12 novels, including "Girl of the Limberlost," and seven nature books, along with books for children, books on poetry and numerous magazine articles.

Tickets are $25 for children 12 and under; $50 for regular admission; and $75 for patrons. Proceeds will benefit The Friends of Women's Studies Scholarship Fund at IUPUI.
