HERRON
OPEN HOUSE OFFERS TASTE OF COLLEGE LIFE
INDIANAPOLIS
- Learn what life is like at Indiana's only professional art school during Herron
School of Art's annual Open House on November 15 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
High school students are invited to explore the IUPUI school by visiting studios,
viewing student artwork, and talking with professors and students about college
life. Both the school's historic main campus at 16th and Pennsylvania streets
and the new Sculpture and Ceramics Facility at 1350 North Stadium Drive will
be open for tours.
At the main campus, attendees may walk through the IRIS Centre for the Digital
Arts, a research studio where students and faculty produce design and artworks
for community clients. They can view "Student Exhibition 2001" at the Herron
Gallery, home to at least seven exhibits each academic year featuring well-known
artists. They may also see furniture design students in action, observe painting
and drawing classes, try lithography and etching techniques in the printmaking
studio, and learn about opportunities to study overseas through the largest
travel abroad program at IUPUI.
At the Sculpture and Ceramics Facility, visitors may watch students at work
in the sculpture shop, foundry, outdoor courtyards, ceramic studios and more.
During the Open House, students are also invited to bring their portfolios to
share with Herron professors for feedback.
Herron School of Art, IUPUI, located at 1701 N. Pennsylvania St., is one of
the country's oldest and most distinguished professional art schools. The school
