INVITES COMMUNITY TO FIRST CAMPUS FUNFEST
INDIANAPOLIS - From bouncing to bubbles and from books to baseball, there will be something for everyone at IUPUI's first annual Jaguars Family FunFest.
On Sunday, September 17 from noon to 4 p.m., IUPUI will host a free afternoon full of food, games, demonstrations, performances and more for the community at the parking lot across from the Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium, 1001 W. New York St.
"In addition to being a leading urban university with nationally recognized faculty members, IUPUI has a beautiful campus, great sports facilities, exciting sports teams and more," said Kelly Young, director of community outreach for IUPUI. "We want the Indianapolis community to take advantage of these resources and we hope by inviting them to enjoy a free day of family fun on our campus, we can initiate some lifelong relationships."
Activities and exhibits for the afternoon include a visit by IUPUI mascot Jinx the Jaguar, face painting, the ISO instrument petting zoo, a visit from the Colts cheerleaders, Lowes' construction area, a visit by Indians mascot Rowdie, a baseball throw, a high jump, bubblemania, a performance by jump rope team the Indy Air Bears, fingerprinting, autograph session with IUPUI men's and women's basketball teams, water color portraits by Herron School of Art students, Marion County Library Bookmobile, IUPUI's electric race car and more.
At 2 p.m., the IUPUI men's soccer team takes on Eastern Illinois across the street at the stadium. Tickets to the game are discounted and are $2 for adults, $1 for children ages 4-12, and free for children under four.
