BackPack
Attack Seeks School Supplies for Students
Even though back-to-school shopping trips for new backpacks, paper and pencils may not be in the budget for some families in our community, those children will still get the tools they'll need this fall. The supplies will be collected during a special drive July 8-August 17 called the "BackPack Attack," spearheaded by Bridges to Success, IUPUI and The Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
Individuals or groups are invited to donate new backpacks and school supplies for thousands of children in need. Donations of backpacks, erasers, rulers, crayons, art boxes, scissors, glue sticks, pencil sharpeners, ink pens, pencils and colored pencils, notebook paper and pocket folders can be deposited in specially marked bins in the welcome center of The Children's Museum at 30th & Meridian during regular business hours or to IUPUI Campus Facilities Services, 1410 Stadium Drive, between 2-4 p.m. weekdays.
Businesses and groups are encouraged to conduct their own collections and then deliver their donations to The Children's Museum or IUPUI.
Bridges to Success is a collaboration between United Way of Central Indiana and IPS to increase children's academic success by bringing community resources and opportunities into schools.
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis has a mission to enrich the lives of children, and sponsors a free annual Back to School Fest on Thurs., Aug. 2 to provide educational resources and information for parents and children.
