Full-time IUPUI faculty members are invited to submitted proposals for the campuswide common theme project which is scheduled for the 2009-2010 academic year.

The goal of the common theme project is to engage the entire campus - students, faculty, administrators, and staff - in a broad and inclusive intellectual conversation on topics relevant to the campus, the local community, and the world. Proposals should present a theme and outline its relevance to the IUPUI campus; identify a book to support the theme; propose a calendar of events to support the theme; offer relevant resources to be posted on a library website and Facebook. The proposals should also explain how the theme can be used to support Principle for Undergraduate Learning.

The 2009-2010 theme, as well as the book and programs designed to support it, should be cross-disciplinary and include both the academic and student life aspects of the campus.

A $5000 stipend will be awarded to the faculty member or faculty team who submits the winning proposal. Cross-disciplinary teams of two faculty members, who will split the stipend, are encouraged to submit proposals.

A standing common theme committee, with campus-wide representation of students, staff, and faculty, will select the winner(s), who will serve in a leadership role on the committee and help implement the theme in the 2009-10 academic year.

The deadline for submitting proposals is May 15, 2008.
