Drew Appleby, professor and director of undergraduate studies in the Psychology Department, spent Feb. 19 – 21, 2008, at Saginaw Valley State University as a 2008 Dow Scholar.

He consulted with and made presentations to 17 faculty, staff, administrative, student, and community groups on topics such as the transition from high school to college, academic advising, mentoring, assessment, avoiding the "kisses of death" in the graduate school application process, career opportunities for psychology majors, and the stages of intellectual development in college students.

SVSU is the youngest of Michigan’s 15 public universities.
