Police Department Announces 4th Citizen Police Academy
Registration is now open for the Fourth Citizen Police Academy which will begin Sept. 5 and end with a graduation ceremony Nov. 21, 2006.
The Citizen Police Academy is an interactive one night a week course designed to familiarize students, faculty and staff with the various aspects of being a law enforcement officer. The course involves both classroom and hands on training in such areas as fingerprinting, crime scene management, firearms training, building searches, traffic stops, use of force and more.
Participants will be required to commit to attend the one-night-a-week, 12-week course. The class will meet Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m., beginning Sept. 5, 2006, and ending with a graduation ceremony Nov. 21, 2006. Participants will be able to experience some of the issues facing modern law enforcement, learn about the extensive training officers go through and learn about the criminal justice system.
