Psychology Colloquium Addresses Bringing Bad News
Life in organizations is punctuated by bad news.
People are fired and laid off; organizations are downsized and plants are closed; and sales figures and market shares decline. In all these cases, and many others, bad news must be delivered to some audience at some point in time.
The Industrial/Organizational Psychology Colloquium is sponsoring a discussion on delivering bad news from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, April 28 in University Library, Lilly Auditorium, 755 W. Michigan St.
Robert J. Bies, professor of management and academic director of the Executive Master’s in Leadership at Georgetown University will present” The Manager as Intuitive Politician: Blame Management in the Delivery of Bad News.” Professor Bies will present a grounded theory of blame management activities in the delivery of bad news.
A reception will be held following the talk in the Psychology Conference Room, LD 124, 402 N. Blackford.
