IUPUI Staff Among United Way Leadership Program Participants

Three IUPUI staff members are among the 51 people that United Way of Central Indiana selected to participate in the organization’s three community leadership programs: the Ardath Burkhart Series, Executive Women’s Leadership Program; and the Leadership Training and Development for Diversity Series.

Community volunteers and program alumni select participants based on professional achievement, commitment to community service and volunteerism, and willingness to create impact within central Indiana.

IUPUI personnel selected and their respected assignments as United Way leadership trainees are: Yaobin Chen, associate dean, School of Engineering and Technology, Ardath Burkhart Series; Etta Ward, director of scholarly and creative activity program, IUPUI Office of Professional Development at IUPUI, Leadership Training & Development for Diversity Series; and NiCole Keith, assistant professor, School of Physical Education and Tourism Management; Executive Women’s Leadership Program.

Each leadership series combines classes and practical experiences to help participants further develop leadership skills, increase their knowledge of the community and acquire the skills to become a successful board member. The programs run through May 2006.
