Professor Among Lincoln Prize Finalists
School of Liberal Arts Professor Jane Schultz was one of four finalists for a prestigious award in the field of American History.
“Women at the Front: Hospital workers in Civil War America,” written by Schultz, was one of 91 books nominated for the Lincoln Prize which honors the year’s best works on President Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. The book was published in 2004 by the University of North Carolina.
Presented this spring, the Lincoln award, which included a $35,000 cash prize, went to Gettysburg College history Professor Allen C. Guelzo for his book, “Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation: The End of Slavery in America.”
Previous Lincoln Prize winners include Ken Burns who won the 1991 award for his PBS series, “The Civil War.”
