The first week of September marks the publication of U.S. News and World Report's 2010 "America's Best Colleges" issue. IUPUI continues to be recognized among "Up and Coming National Universities."

In the list's first year we ranked 14th, last year we moved up to 7th, and this year we are tied for 5th!

Dan Youngblood

Dan Youngblood has been named Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services.

Youngblood has directed financial and administrative affairs in higher education for over thirty years. He joined IUPUI in 2005 as business systems manager and most recently served as associate director for systems and collections in the Office of Student Account Services.

Herron Professor Chosen First Contemporary Art Editor for Online Art Encyclopedia

Oxford University Press has selected Jean Robertson, Ph.D., professor of art history at Herron School of Art and Design, as Grove Art Online's first advisory editor for contemporary art.

Used by audiences ranging from students to research scholars, Grove Art Online is the preeminent, peer-reviewed reference that covers world art from prehistory to the present. It is the digital version of The Grove Dictionary of Art, first published in 1996 in 34 volumes.

New iAbroad Study Abroad System Improves Process for Students

Students will now be able to browse available IUPUI and IU Study Abroad programs in one location—http://iabroad.iu.edu.

Developed by Jason Baumgartner and his team at the Office of International Student Services in Bloomington; Adam Ploshay and the Office of Overseas Study at Bloomington; and Ned Hummel and the Study Abroad Office at the Office of International Affairs at IUPUI, the new system gives students multiple ways to search for programs, including by campus, region, country, language, term, and a new feature in which programs are matched to a variety of academic interests.

Student Life and University College Announce New Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Learning

Julie B. Elkins

Julie B. Elkins has been selected as the next assistant vice chancellor for student life and learning, a joint position in both the Division of Student Life and the University College, pending approval by the IU Board of Trustees.

Elkins is currently the director of academic initiatives at National Campus Compact in Boston. In her new role at IUPUI, she will provide leadership for several administrative units within Student Life and will promote collaborative efforts between Student Life and University College as well as other campus units that will enhance student learning and success.
