Inside IUPUI Events and Announcements
Patients and Staff at IU and Riley Hospitals Need Your Help During Flu Season
Clarian Health -- along with other local hospital systems -- recently announced visitor restrictions to its downtown hospitals in response to the 2009 H1N1 virus outbreak (also known as swine flu). See the Frequently Asked Questions.
By reducing the number of visitors to the hospitals, Clarian is protecting the health of its patients and their families, as well as the staff members who serve them.
Students can support this effort, and protect their own health, by restricting their time in the hospitals to classes and work related to clinical activities.
Clarian Health is asking IUPUI faculty, staff and students to protect their and others’ health, by not passing through hospitals to other campus locations and avoid using hospital cafeterias and food services.

Survey Says Diversity is Campus Top Issue, Second Survey to Follow Up
According to the results of a spring semester survey designed to measure student priorities on campus, “intercultural communications and diversity on campus” is the most important issue among IUPUI students.
In a follow-up effort, the fall 2009 IUPUI Student Pulse Survey will seek to learn just what students feel about diversity issues at IUPUI. The web survey is expected to go out to a random sample of students this week. Survey answers remain anonymous and will be reported as summarized group data only.
The fall Pulse survey is being conducted by the IUPUI administration in cooperation with the IUPUI Multicultural Center. Students are encouraged to respond to the survey as administrators will use the results to inform strategic planning on the campus.
The costs of parking, textbook exchange issues, the cost of campus food services and the quality of campus food services, were respectively, the second to fifth most important of 12 issues ranked in the spring 2009 IUPUI student opinion poll. The list of issues was compiled by student government groups.
