Book Signing with Professor Paul Kriese
Paul Kriese, associate professor of political science and author of "Global Community: Global Security," will have a book signing, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oct. 8, 2009, at the Barnes and Nobles IUPUI Bookstore.
The book is jointly published with Randall Osborne, professor of psychology at the University of Texas in San Marcos.
The Global Community book combines political and psychological views of global security. This book is also up for Book of the Year award from the Division of International Psychology of the American Psychological Association.

Conversations at Tea Time Highlights Academic Plan
Conversations at Tea Time will feature Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties Uday Sukhatme from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at the Faculty Club IP 200, on the second floor of the University Place Conference Center, 850 West Michigan St.
Sukhatme will present "IUPUI Academic Plan: Progress and Assessment."

Place of Poetry Contest Open
The IUPUI University Library and The Writer's Center of Indiana will present winners of a poetry contest and a poetry reading at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at the IUPUI University Library. A reception begins at 6 p.m.
The event includes the award presentation for winners of "The Place of Poetry," a poetry contest for Marion County college and university students, and a reading by The Airpoets: Joyce Brinkman, Ruthelen Burns, Joseph Heithaus and Norbert Krapf.

Reading at the Table Tackles Health Myths
Reading at the Table will present "Don't Swallow Your Gum" authors Dr. Aaron Carroll and Dr. Rachel Vreeman, who will read from and discuss their book from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at the Faculty Club.
People have more access to medical information than ever before, and yet still believe "facts" about our bodies and health that are just plain wrong, according to the doctors. "Don't Swallow Your Gum!" takes on these myths and misconceptions, and exposes the truth behind some of those weird and worrisome things we think about our bodies.
