IUPUI Moves Up in U.S. News and World Report Ranking for Universities to Watch

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is being seen even more by U.S. News and World Report as a place to "keep an eye on." The listing is part of the national magazine's 2010 America’s Best Colleges Rankings.

For the second year, U.S. News asked college presidents and other administrators which higher education institutions had made "striking improvements or innovations." The magazine reported that IUPUI is among 77 colleges and universities that were singled out as schools that have recently made the "most promising and innovative changes in academics, faculty, students,campus, or facilities."

PAO/PAU/SMO Time Recording Changes

Effective Today (August 23, 2009) PAO and PAU staff employees will be switched from the university’s monthly payroll cycle to the biweekly payroll cycle, and they will record their hours worked through the TIME system. This is being done to eliminate inconsistencies and to more accurately record hours worked and overtime pay as required by Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations.

Assistant chemistry professor at the School of Science at IUPUI, Dr. Sapna Deo, quickly made her mark on the world of chemistry and research when she was recently awarded the "Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers" from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The NSF award for scientists is one of the most prestigious awards honoring investigators excellence in the laboratory and classroom.

Department of Computer and Information Science at IUPUI Hosts 12th International Conference on Network-Based Information Systems

The Department of Computer and Information Science at the School of Science at IUPUI announced today the 2009 Network Based Information Systems Conference (NBiS) will be held August 19-21, 2009 on the IUPUI campus. The international conference will attract nearly 100 leading computer scientists and researchers from around the globe to give an overview of the most recent trends in an effort to advance research on computer science topics that are increasingly influencing the daily lives of people throughout the world.

Five IUPUI students - Zachary Batic, Nickolas Smith, Daniel Brinson, Adriene Davis, and Heather Braun - graduated from the Indiana University Police Academy in Bloomington August 15.

Braun was also awarded the Firearms Proficiency Award.
