Swine Flu Status and What You Can Do

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised its Pandemic Alert Level to 3 due to the swine/bird/human flu virus (version of H1N1) that has been found in California, Texas, and Mexico. There have been 20 illnesses in the U.S. in five states (CA, TX, NY, OH and KS) with zero fatalities, but Mexico has had 1,300 illnesses and 81 fatalities. California has activated its Joint Emergency Operations Center and Mexico City has closed schools (K to post-secondary) and cancelled mass gatherings.

IUPUI Study Reports Inherited Impulsivity Predicts Alcoholism

Solving the age-old chicken and the egg dilemma, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis researchers report that genetic predisposition to impulsivity is a trait predictive of alcoholism. The study appears on the July print issue of the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research, available online on April 22.

Recognizing Hunter

Ron Hunter

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will pay tribute to IUPUI Coach Ron Hunter and other community good Samaritan's during an entertaining concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Hilbert Circle Theatre. The concert will feature the music from the most inspiring sports films of all time. All proceeds benefit the ISO and Samaritan's Feet. Students may purchase a $15 special student priced ticket at the JagTag Office. Faculty, staff and friends can show their support by purchasing tickets from the ISO site.

Music and Arts Technology Department at IUPUI to Present New, Cutting-Edge Ensembles

The Music and Arts Technology Department at IUPUI will present new and cutting-edge ensembles in performance on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 7:30 pm at IUPUI.

The concert will occur in the Concert Space, Room 152, Informatics and Communication Technology Complex at IUPUI, 535 W. Michigan St. Indianapolis. Admission is $5.
