Expert on Issues Affecting Forced Migrants to be Keynote Speaker at the School of Social Work's 13th Annual PhD Spring Symposium

Dr. Frederick Ahearn, an expert on psychosocial issues affecting forced migrants, particularly persons displaced by disasters, will be the keynote speaker for the 13th annual Indiana University School of Social Work's PhD Spring Symposium.

Ahearn, a professor and co-chair of the Center for International Social Development at the National Catholic School of Social Service of the Catholic University of America, will discuss his research project on refugees in Nicaragua.

IUPUI Math Students Place in Top 15 Percent at National Putnam Competition

Time magazine called it the "World's Toughest Math Test." Mathematics majors Joel Martin, Igor Minevich and Elizabeth Sweeney might agree. The IUPUI team, coached by Associate Professor Evgeny Mukhin, placed 66th among the 545 colleges and universities that participated in the 68th annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition.

Kelley Indianapolis Faculty Members to Receive Trustee Teaching Award

The Trustees of Indiana University have named two faculty members at the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis as recipients of the Trustee Teaching Award.

W. Todd Roberson, a lecturer in finance, and Richard Rogers, an associate professor of accounting, recently received notification of the award. Both have a long history with Kelley Indianapolis, part of the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus. Roberson promotes the school by heading up the undergraduate recruitment efforts.
