Indiana University Adopts New Eldercare Benefit
Indiana University announced today (April 1) it will provide its nearly 18,000 full-time employees with a new eldercare benefit offered by Indianapolis-based My Health Care Manager.
"Taking care of parents is an increasingly stressful responsibility that not only affects our faculty and staff personally but also costs the university in absenteeism and increased health care expenses due to the stress it places on employees," said Dan Rives, IU's associate vice president for university human resources.

Midwest Robert Noyce Conference at IUPUI To Examine Strategies to Improve Math and Science Teaching
Teachers, professors, and student teachers from around the Midwest will gather on the campus of IUPUI this week to discuss strategies for preparing successful science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teachers, at the Midwest Robert Noyce Regional Conference on April 2-3 at IUPUI's University Place Conference Center.

Spring House Calls

Now in its 14th year, Spring House Calls is the largest and oldest service-learning project of the School of Medicine Office of Medical Service-Learning. The service project is dedicated to providing home and lawn maintenance for elderly and disabled, minority homeowners in two inner-city neighborhoods to the north and west of the IU campus. Students of 21 Indiana Schools to Compete in Economics Challenge
On April 14, 2009, students from 21 high schools across the state will compete in the state-level competitions of the nation’s only national economics challenge.
Indiana competitions of the National Economics Challenge will be held at three locations: Central Indiana Educational Service Center, 6321 LaPas Trail, Indianapolis; Penn High School, 56100 Bittersweet Rd., Mishawaka; and Silver Creek High School, 557 Renz Ave., Sellersburg.

The School of Social Work Explores Student Exchange Program with Peking University
The School of Social Work continues to explore possibilities of collaborating with Peking University as it looks at creating a student exchange program as early as the summer of 2010.
At an information and planning meeting last week, Margaret Adamek, director of the School's Doctoral Program and Virginia Majewski, Associate Dean of the School, presented details of a potential implementation plan between Peking University and the School of Social Work, the Medical Humanities Program and School of Liberal Arts.
