Engineering & Technology Dean Yurtseven to Leave Admin Post in 2010

Professor H. Öner Yurtseven, dean of the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), will leave his position as head administrator of the school, effective June 30, 2010.

Professor Yurtseven, who holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from the John Hopkins University, has served as dean of the engineering and technology school at IUPUI since July 1996. The school currently enrolls more than 2,500 students.

High Desert Harmony: A Digital Photography Exhibition

Herron School of Art and Design will present "High Desert Harmony: A Digital Photography Exhibition of Southwestern Landscapes by Aaron J. Law" through March 14, 2009, in the Basile Gallery of the school, 735 W. New York St.

The exhibit features the work of Aaron J. Law, a professor of design at the Herron School of Art and Design.

Viewing hours are: Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Admission is free of charge.

The American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) has named Jay A. Siegel a Distinguished Fellow at its annual meeting in Denver, Colo. The designation recognizes Siegel’s illustrious career, demonstrated by his professional accomplishments, significant contributions to research and international activities in support of the AAFS and other professional organizations.

IU trustees approve plans to guide development of IU Bloomington, IUPUI

The IUPUI plan will better connect the campus with the city and the White River.
The IUPUI plan will better connect the campus with the city and the White River.

The Indiana University Board of Trustees today approved new master plans for IU Bloomington and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, endorsing flexible frameworks for guiding the growth and shaping the future of the university's two largest campuses.

The plans were produced over the past year by SmithGroup/JJR, a Washington, D.C., architectural and design firm. Planning processes for both campuses included extensive input by faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders.

International Actor/Director in Residence at IUPUI March 22-29

A faculty member of the London Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts next month will present lectures and performances during a week-long residency at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Tim Hardy, actor, director and Royal Academy faculty member, will be in residence at IUPUI from March 22-29, 2009. During his time at IUPUI, he will give several lectures and dramatic performances that focus on Galileo and the interplay between science and religion. Performance tickets are on sale now.
