IU School of Law-Indianapolis Student Argues Before Indiana Supreme Court
As part of his Appellate Clinic experience at IU School of Law-Indianapolis, Jonathan Bont, a third-year law student, argued before the state's highest court in December.
Appellate Clinic students represent indigent clients in civil or criminal appeals under the supervision of clinical faculty. Students are responsible for all aspects of representation.
Bont argued in Jeffrey Graham v. State case.
Jeffrey Graham was convicted of resisting law enforcement for not giving his hands to police officers who sought to handcuff him. Bont’s argument focused on the requirement of "forcibly" resisting. The 15-minute argument can be seen on the court's webcast site: http://www.indianacourts.org/apps/webcasts/ .
