Jean and Jerry Bepko Beautify IUPUI A Big Hit!


What in the world is a "Beautify IUPUI" event? It is a day when IUPUI students and staff volunteer to become a part of the Campus Facility Services Grounds crew and work in concert with CFS to spread mulch, plant flowers, and pick up litter on campus. This year's Beautify IUPUI event was held on Sept. 19, 2008. This year 265 people volunteered. Students who participated can earn two hours Service Learning credits for working.

IUSON Assistant Professor Named a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar

Diane M. Von Ah, PhD, RN, assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON), was one of 15 junior faculty nationwide to receive an inaugural Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar award. The three-year, $350,000 grant began September 1.

Liberal Arts Takes Second Step of Expansion Plan, Awarding New Black Studies Scholarships

The School of Liberal Arts at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis has taken a second big step in a long-range plan to expand its black studies program. This fall, the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI selected the first cohort of students to participate in the Olaniyan (Oh-LAWN-eee-yawn) Scholars Program sponsored by the school's African American and African Diaspora Studies (AAADS) program.

IUPUI to Host "Main Street" Workshop on Finding Funds to Help Grow a Business

October's Main Street Institute program will focus on tips and tools for women entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.

The Kelley School of Business Women's MBA Alumni Advisory Board will host "Get on Top of the Bottom Line: Finding Funds for Your Business" from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, in Rooms 450 A and B at the IUPUI Campus Center, 420 University Blvd. Registration and breakfast will begin at 9 a.m.

IUPUI to Host Second Emergency Management Seminar, Disaster Medicine and Mass Casualties Are Focus

If a massive disaster were to strike Indianapolis, as was the case in New York and New Orleans, local hospitals and emergency medicine staff would be tested as never before…stretched to their limits treating the injured, and dying and accounting for the dead.

The impact of such an emergency medical "surge" and how the local emergency medicine system would respond to a disaster involving mass casualties will be the focus of a second IUPUI conference on homeland security and emergency management.
