2. I/O Psychology brown bag series
Please join us on Sept. 6 from noon to 1 p.m. in LD030 as we hear guest speaker Shelby Smith discuss training in corporate America.

The I/O Psychology Brown Bag Series is open to all IUPUI students and faculty, and features professionals immersed or aligned with the field of I/O Psychology. The aim of the series is to provide insight into both the research and practices of the field as they function beyond IUPUI's campus.

All events are free of charge, and attendees are welcome to bring their lunch!
3. Be the next IUPUI mascot
Are you one of IUPUI's biggest fans? Do you enjoy meeting people and having fun? Applications for the next Jawz and Jinx mascots are now available. Mascots are paid student employees. Applicants should have a flexible schedule and availability to work some week days and weekends. More information and an application can be found at the below website. 4. Are you ready for Kelley? Information sessions
So you want to study business? Let's make it official.

With only 26 credit hours and seven designated classes, you can apply to the Kelley School of Business. Find out more during the following information sessions:

-Thursday, Sept. 5 from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. in the Campus Center, room 148.

-Thursday, Sept. 19 from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. in the Campus Center, room 268.

-Monday, Sept. 23 from noon until 1:00 p.m. in the Campus Center, room 309.
5. Pediatric student interest group
Please join members of the Pediatric SIG for a lunch talk by a pediatrician regarding common behavioral problems in children. Lunch will be served, Sept. 11 at noon in room MS 311A/B. All are welcome to attend.
6. Book club!

8. Grad students! Finding articles, dissertations, and theses workshop
You're writing your thesis, or undertaking a major research project. You need to search for information to support your ideas: how will you know when your research is complete? Learn how to locate relevant information quickly and efficiently. We will discuss finding resources through IUCAT and other online library resources for journals, books, dissertations and thesis, and much more.

9. LGBT Fall Social - Sept. 5

ACADEMICS AND LECTURES
11. Earn while you learn: undergraduate research applications are now available
Apply now to participate in Center for Research and Learning Undergraduate Research Programs.

Programs currently accepting applications include the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Institute (MURI) and the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Grants Program (UROP). Applications will be accepted until Sept. 10, 2013. Projects begin in October and continue through April.
CRL programs offer competitive stipends and give students the opportunity to work with a faculty mentor.

HEALTH
12. Suicide prevention training
IUPUI CAPS will be offering suicide prevention training for students, faculty, and staff. This training is based on Question, Persuade, and Refer(QPR), a well-known community-based approach to identifying and intervening with individuals considering suicide. The training is scheduled on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Campus Center, Room 264. For more info on the QPR Training, please contact CAPS at (317)274-2548 or capsindy@iupui.edu. 13. Semicolon Campaign
Sept. 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day. To raise awareness, TWLOHA-IUPUI Chapter along with CAPS and the Health and Wellness Promotion Committee encourage the IUPUI community to participate in the Semicolon Campaign during the week of Sept. 9. The campaign uses the symbol of a semicolon, stating that "semicolons represent a sentence the author chose not to end. You're the author; the sentence is your life." We will have info tables in the Campus Center on Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

14. Alcohol screening and assessments
How is your relationship with alcohol? Come find out on Tuesday Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Campus Center, Room 148, and the Atrium. IUPUI Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will be sponsoring free alcohol screening and assessments where you can fill out a brief questionnaire and receive personal feedback from a CAPS counselor. Test your knowledge about alcohol use in college and try our "Fatal Vision Goggles"! For more information, please contact CAPS at 317-274-2548.

15. Midwest Street Art: September exhibit in Cultural Arts Gallery
Midwest Street Art is back, August 29 through October 4, 2013. This exhibit showcases many variations of graffiti art created by artist in the Midwest area. The Cultural Arts Gallery is located in the IUPUI Campus Center, 2nd Floor, Room 240. The gallery's hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Follow us on Facebook: Cultural Arts Gallery @ IUPUI.

INTERNATIONAL
17. IUPUI enrolls record number of international students
IUPUI has enrolled a record 1,837 international students, up 15 percent from last year and 27 percent over fall 2011.

For the first time, the number of students from India has surpassed those from China. International students now comprise 6 percent of the total IUPUI enrollment.

18. IPMP invites you to September coffee hour
Please come and join our monthly coffee hour presented by International Peer Mentors. The theme for this month is "Hungry? But the menu makes me dizzy!" How has your experience at IUPUI been so far? Come and share your thoughts with us and participate in FUN activities and group discussion!

Bridges International is hosting Joe Miller, one of the top lawyers in America for non-profit organizations in Room 148 of the Campus Center from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Free lunch provided. He will be speaking about his college experience, tips to succeed while you are in college, getting internships, and about his faith as a Christian and how that makes a difference in his life as a Christian and a lawyer. Joe is a Partner at the prestigious law firm of Faegre Baker Daniels. See you Friday, Sept. 6!
