2. Bicycle repair stations installed at IUPUI
Thanks to a Greening IUPUI grant and an IUPUI student group focused on bicycle initiatives, three do-it-yourself bicycle repair stations have been installed at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, enabling campus and community cyclists to do quick repairs anytime and be on their way.

3. 300 new parking spaces available on campus!
300 new parking spaces are now open in the Riverwalk Garage for "A", "B" and "E" permit holders!

You do not have to do anything special to park in this garage. Just swipe and enter -- it's that easy!

4. Registration open for IEEE Cluster 2013 conference
The Indiana University Pervasive Technology Institute (PTI) announced today that registration for the IEEE Cluster 2013 conference is now open. PTI will host the IEEE Cluster 2013 conference, which takes place September 23-27 at the Hilton Indianapolis. A $100 discount is available to those who register before August 20, 2013.

6. Faculty and staff, host a student during fall break externship
Please consider giving a small amount of your time to help our students gain exposure to your profession!

An externship is a volunteer shadowing-style opportunity for undergraduate students to spend time interacting with professionals and to gain exposure related to their career interests. Externships are targeted to first- and second-year students and will be held during IUPUI's fall break on Tuesday, October 15.

To apply to be an externship host, please complete the application by August 16.

9. Volunteers needed for a weight loss study
We are seeking women who have a child/children between the ages of 8 and 15 and have one of the following:

- High blood sugar during pregnancy
- Gave birth to a baby 9 pounds or greater
- Difficulty losing weight

10. Have you experienced a brain injury with lasting effects?
The IU Center for Neuroimaging is recruiting subjects for a study evaluating the effectiveness of 3 treatments in individuals with memory and attention problems related to traumatic brain injury (TBI). Participants must be 18 to 65 years of age, and had a TBI or concussion with lasting attention and memory problems. Participants should be able to travel to IUPUI for 5 clinic visits over seven weeks. Financial compensation is available. For more information about the study email jnadkins@iupui.edu.

11. Recruiting healthy volunteers for a Riley research study
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Influenza A. Healthy research subjects are needed for a comparison group.

Eligibility Requirements:
-Must speak English
-Boys and Girls 0-3 years old
-No viral Infection within the past 6 weeks
-No fever in the past 6 weeks
Other exclusion criteria will be discussed prior to enrollment in the study
Study involves:
-One visit(approx 1 hour of time)
-Nasal wash
-Blood draw

12. Mexican heritage mother and youth needed for communication study
Research seeks Mexican-heritage immigrant mothers with adolescent children (age 13 to 18 years) for one hour individual interviews. The interview will be conducted separately. The purpose of the study is to better understand how mother and youth communicate to support each other. Compensation ($50 for mother, $20 for youth) will be offered. 13. Research study for children with ADHD, ODD, or conduct disorder
Investigators at IU School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry are conducting a research study for children aged 10-14 with suspected ADHD, ODD, or Conduct Disorder and healthy control children with no psychiatric disorders or addiction history in their family. The study examines a child's risk for drug addiction based on whether or not they have a father with a history of substance abuse. This study involves one visit to our clinic and up to two MRI brain scans. Call 317-948-3472 for more details.

14. Are you currently taking medication for the treatment of osteoporosis?
Doctors at Indiana University School of Medicine are conducting a research study evaluating an investigational medication, in patients previously treated for Postmenopausal Osteoporosis.

You may be able to participate if you:
-Are female age 60 years or older
-Have taken medication for your osteoporosis for at least the last 3 years
-Are at least 5 years post-menopausal

As part of the study you will have:
Bone density testing
Physical exams
Blood and urine testing Electrocardiograms (EKG)

All study procedures, testing, calcium supplement, vitamin D supplement and study medication are provided at no cost to you. In addition, after screening, participants who qualify will receive $50 per visit for time and travel.

Risks will be disclosed prior to participation.

15. Exercise and driving safety in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)
The IUPUI Departments of Kinesiology and Electrical/Computer Engineering are seeking volunteers to determine if a single exercise session improves driving performance in individuals diagnosed with OSA. If you are between 18-65 years of age, have been diagnosed by a sleep physician with moderate-severe OSA, and are not currently being treated with continuous positive airway pressure, you may qualify for the study. 16. Research study on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
Are diarrhea and abdominal discomfort putting a cramp in your lifestyle? If you have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), you may be eligible for a research studying through the IU Division of Gastroenterology. To pre-qualify, you must have been experiencing diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and bloating on and off in the last 3 mths and/or have been previously diagnosed with IBS-diarrhea. If you qualify you will receive investigational medication and compensation for your time. Call Anita 317-948-9227.
17. Research study on gastroparesis
Do you feel full after a meal? Do you have nausea, vomiting, or retching? It could be gastroparesis. Consider participating in a research study through the IU Division of Gastroenterology. You may be able to participate if you are between the ages of 18-64 and have been diagnosed with or experience the symptoms of gastroparesis. If you qualify, you may receive study medication and related tests at no cost. You will be compensated for your time. Call Anita at 317-948-9227.
