2. Karen Dace to be appointed IUPUI vice chancellor for diversity, equity and inclusion
IUPUI Chancellor and IU Executive Vice President Charles R. Bantz has announced Karen Dace as IUPUI's next vice chancellor for diversity, equity and inclusion effective Sept. 3, pending approval by the Indiana University Board of Trustees.

3. IU branding in full force at IUPUI
The Indiana University comprehensive brand initiative is in its infancy, but the IUPUI campus is in full swing to adopt the strategy, deliver on the IU promise, lead by example and provide pathways for Hoosiers to make their place in a bigger world and take them where they want to go.

4. Fundraising event for the Riley Heart Research Center
Join us on Thursday, Aug. 8th at Wild Air Farms in Zionsville for "Taste For A Cure," a food, wine and beer tasting event. Food tastings provided by local restaurants such as Stone Creek Dining, Sullivan's Steakhouse, Palomino Restaurant, and more. 5. Free website for Chinese students to adapt to American life
Two graduate students in School of Informatics have made a free website for Chinese who live in North America or students who plan to come to North America for study. Every work day we update with three to four fresh news items or useful information for our users, to help them better understand North American culture, and be prepared for study and adapt to life here.

6. Suspect apprehended
The suspect in the forcible grabbing of an IUPUI employee's cell phone in parking lot #80 at 300 N. University Boulevard on June 24 has been arrested. He was taken into custody by IMPD on several charges and is being held in the Marion County Jail.
7. IUPUI Special Collections and Archives Photo Caption Contest for July
Rejoice and fill your bumpers! It is time for the Photo Caption Contest for July, a time to quench our thirst for knowledge and fabulous prizes won in literary contest.

We congratulate the winner of our June contest, Robert Aull, for his caption: "Any fool can tell this book isn't as big as the one in the display, but noooo we have to open the case and confirm...would serve him right if I accidently let this lid drop." He wins our fabulous prize, which is no small beer!

The Glenn W. Irwin, Jr., M.D. Experience Excellence Recognition Award recognizes faculty and staff members whose service activities go above and beyond the responsibilities of their basic job. 9. Boot camp to help graduate school applicants
Ready to get serious about graduate school?

The Graduate School Boot Camp will take place Friday, July 12, at the IUPUI Campus Center, third floor. It is open to all graduate school applicants, regardless of where they intend to apply for admission. Boot Camp begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

12. Stencils & Stickies: July Exhibit in Cultural Arts Gallery @ IUPUI
Check out the new July exhibit, "Stencils & Stickies", July 8 to Aug. 2. This exhibit focuses on artists that work in stencils, wheat paste and stickers as their mediums. This show includes artists from Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Also, mark your calendars: July 20, from 12 p.m. to 2 .p.m, there will be a workshop held in the gallery, and July 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., there will be a discussion and video screening.

RESEARCH
14. Volunteers needed for wisdom tooth extraction research study
We are looking for adults who are age 18 or older who are planning to have their wisdom teeth extracted. People taking part in this study will be testing an experimental drug to lessen post-surgery symptoms after tooth extraction. Wisdom tooth extraction procedure at Regenstrief Health Dental Center Clinic will be provided at no cost and those eligible will be compensated up to $150 if all visits and procedures are completed. Please call 317-274-3740 and ask for the 3rd Molar study.
15. Looking for participants who've experienced a concussion or mild TBI
We are looking for participants who have experienced a concussion or a mild traumatic brain injury IN THE PAST YEAR to volunteer for a study entitled "Structural, Functional, and Molecular Neuroimaging in Mild Traumatic Brain Injury." Interested participants must have suffered a concussion or mild traumatic brain injury within the past year, must be 18 years or older and otherwise physically and emotionally healthy. 16. Paid model volunteers needed
The Radiologic and Imaging Sciences Program is looking for participants to serve as patient models for senior ultrasound students. Volunteers are paid for their time. Labs are held Wednesday afternoons from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Clinical Building on campus. Anyone is welcome to inquire, some restrictions do apply. We desperately need pregnant women currently between 12 and 22 weeks and infants younger than 16 weeks as of September 4. For more information please contact Valerie at vech@iupui.edu.
17. Type 2 Diabetes Research Study
IUSM Department of Pediatric Endocrinology/Diabetology is looking for individuals who were diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes PRIOR to age 18 to participate in a study requiring only one visit. The goal of the study is to learn more about the relationships between certain genes and Type 2 diabetes. Qualified participants will be asked to provide a blood sample and answer questions about their medical history. Please call 317-944-7019 or e-mail pdidrick@iu.edu for more details.
18. Food aromas study
We want to know how your brain reacts to food aromas while receiving alcohol. We are seeking healthy, lean women ages 21 to 40. If you qualify, you will visit IU Hospital, 550 University Blvd., Indianapolis, for two full day sessions. You will smell food aromas and complete reaction time tasks under the influence of intravenous alcohol while undergoing MRI scanning of the brain. 19. African American healthy volunteers needed for brain imaging studies!
IU Psychotic Disorders Program seeks healthy volunteers to participate in a research study using brain scans (MRI). If you are: age 18 to 23, male, African-American, not on prescription medications, & have no psychiatric illness you may qualify. The study consists of questionnaires, an interview,and one MRI. You will be compensated for your time!

20. Recruiting Healthy Volunteers for a Research Study
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Influenza A. Healthy research subjects are needed for a comparison group.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must speak English, boys and girls 0 to 3 years old, no viral infection within the past six weeks and no fever in the past six weeks. Other exclusion criteria will be discussed prior to enrollment in the study.
Study involves:
One visit (approx one hour of time), nasal wash, blood draw.

21. Research opportunity for 18 to 20 year old female students
Research study seeks 18 to 20 year old female students to participate in a one and an half hour discussion about health held on the IUPUI campus. Refreshments will be provided and you will receive a $20 gift card for completing the study.
This research will be used to better understand how people make decisions about their health.
