2. Get in Shape for Grad School: Come to Boot Camp!
Are you thinking about applying to graduate school? Then come to Graduate School Boot Camp on Friday, July 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Campus Center. Graduate admissions experts will work with you on your personal statement as well as provide tips on CV and exam preparation, funding considerations, letters of recommendation and more! Registration is required. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. A draft of your personal statement must be submitted prior to the event.

3. Summer Sport Camp registration now open

4. Mediation training

IUPUI's Office of Equal Opportunity offers mediation training. This course is designed to provide skills to mediate disputes and overcome communication challenges between individuals and among small groups. It is particularly beneficial to anyone involved in the dispute resolution process. Registration is open to the IUPUI campus and general public.

A course about YOU! What do you feel compelled to do in the world? What purpose do you envision for your life? In this course, you will explore calling, career and community in your personal and professional life. You will apply ideas such as "calling," "community," "vocation" and "passion" to define your evolving sense of mission as an educated person and a concerned citizen. You will study diverse philosophical and cultural traditions as you articulate your own particular calling in the world. Meets Monday/Wednesday 1:00 to 4:15 p.m. (3 credits). This year the topic is developing on-line courses in music Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). Attendees will experience this new social environment as a music student AND LEARN how to create your own MOOC. The workshop is offered for credit (2-3 credit hrs) or without credit for $350.

Presenters include Dr. Ali Jafari, CEO of Course Networking, Inc, Dr. Bailey, IUPUI specialist professor in online learning.

RESEARCH
8. IU School of Medicine Food Aromas Study
We want to know how your brain reacts to food aromas while receiving alcohol. We are seeking healthy, lean women ages 21 to 40. If you qualify, you will visit IU Hospital, 550 University Blvd., Indianapolis, for two full day sessions. You will smell food aromas and complete reaction time tasks under the influence of intravenous alcohol while undergoing MRI scanning of the brain. Compensation is $600 for completing these procedures. Please call for more details 317-278-0373. PI: Dr. Considine
9. Looking For Healthy African-American Children
Ages 6 to 18 years of age. They should be free of asthma, reactive airways disease or any other lung disease. No blood disorders-including sickle cell or thalassemia. The study will include one visit and last approximately 1 hour. The study is to determine reference values for breathing tests in Healthy African-American Children. Upon completion of the study there will be a payment of $50. For more information, please contact the PFT Lab @ James Whitcomb Riley Hospital at 317- 944-3604.
10. Recruiting Healthy Volunteers for Research Study at Riley
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Influenza A. Healthy research subjects are needed for a comparison group.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must speak English
Boys and Girls 0 to 3 years old
No viral infection within the past six weeks. No fever in the past six weeks. Other exclusion criteria will be discussed prior to enrollment in the study.
Study involves:
One visit (approx one hour of time)
Nasal wash
Blood draw

11. Participate in the "Mobile Application Usability" study and earn $20
Male IUPUI students are invited to participate in an experiment evaluating a novel mobile phone application prototype.
We are looking for individuals who:
- have experience using a touch screen mobile device; and
- engage with news (in print, or online) on a daily or weekly basis.
The entire session should last about 90 minutes. Upon completion, you will receive a $20 Amazon gift card as a token of appreciation of your time.If interested, please contact Romisa Ghahari at rrohanig@iupui.edu.
12. Research study for Adolescents with substance use and mental illness
Investigators at IU School of Medicine Department of Adolescent Medicine are conducting a research study for children aged 13 to 18 with substance use, and various mental health disorders. This study examines family involvement in recovery from substance use and mental illness. Call 317-948-3472 to learn more about an opportunity to participate in research and receive treatment for substance use. Individuals that qualify will participate in an interview before (2 to 3 hrs) and after treatment (1 to 3hrs), and receive 17 free sessions of treatment. Treatment sessions typically last 90 minutes and occur 1-2 times a week. Receive up to $45 for participation.
13. Type 2 Diabetes Research Study
IUSM Department of Pediatric Endocrinology/Diabetology is looking for individuals who were diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes PRIOR to age 18 to participate in a study requiring only one visit. The goal of the study is to learn more about the relationships between certain genes and Type 2 diabetes. Qualified participants will be asked to provide a blood sample and answer questions about their medical history. Please call 317-944-7019 or e-mail pdidrick@iu.edu for more details.
14. Riley Hospital for Children Needs Your Help!
Riley Hospital for Children needs healthy full-term infants between 2 and 36 months of age to evaluate how the lung grows.

The evaluation takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.

You will be compensated for your time participating in the evaluation.

15. HPV Vaccine Research Study for Females age 16-26
Healthy 16-26 year old women are needed to test a new vaccine not approved by the FDA to prevent Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections (the virus that sometimes causes genital warts and genital cancers). There will be 3 doses of vaccine given over 6 months with follow-up lasting approximately 1 year. Research is done at Indiana University Infectious Diseases Research at IUPUI.
