5. IUPUI All Ages Cheerleading Clinic
The IUPUI Cheerleading Program presents the 2013 All Ages Cheerleading Clinic. Please join us on February 16, 2013 from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM for a day full of cheer! Participants will have the opportunity to learn cheers and play games with the IUPUI Cheerleaders. Then, they will be invited to perform what they learn at half time of the IUPUI vs. North Dakota State Women's Basketball game! 8. IUPUI 5th Annual Hunger Banquet
The Hunger Banquet is a fundraiser and advocacy event that was developed to draw attention to the growing problem of hunger worldwide and the complexity of foreign aid campaigns. 12. Sport Complex Seeking Day Camp Supervisor
The IUPUI Sport Complex is seeking a Day Camp Supervisor for its Summer Day Camp program. This individual will work with the Youth Program Coordinator to manage pre-camp organization and the day to day operations of Summer Day Camp. Candidates should have at least 5 years of Day Camp Director/Site Director experience. Position will begin 15ˆ20 hrs/week pre-camp and become 40 hrs/week full-time in mid-May. Join us for a discussion of sociological perspectives on gay identity.

Living in the Bible Belt, a region highly saturated with conservative Christian beliefs and practices, socializes gay men and lesbians to suppress their same-sex attractions, hide them and try to pray the gay away. In this powerful presentation Dr. Bernadette Barton presents the results of her research on the effects of religious-based homophobia on individual lives.
25. Center for Research and Learning Summer Research Programs
Applications are now being accepted for the summer research programs administered through the Center for Research and Learning. Selected students will participate in a full-time, nine-week session during the summer. Participants receive research stipends and may also qualify for the RISE transcript notation.

27. Engaged Scholars Roundtable
Public Scholar-Crossing the Streams of Community and University
When: Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 from 12-1 pm

Professor Elee Wood will present on the topic. Public scholars spend half of their time embedded in the community and the other half of their appointment on campus. This raises new questions for faculty as they navigate the competing interests and norms of academic units, tenure and promotion, and community goals.

29. 13th Annual Student Choreography Concert IUPUI Campus Center Theater
On March 2, 2013, the Moving Company will be performing their 13th annual Student Choreography Concert. The Moving Company is a student organization at IUPUI. It is an organization that is celebrating 30 years of performing. It averages 30 dancers each semester. This production is entirely student run! Advisor/Director Paige Craigie began this student opportunity back in 2000. The dance styles represented will include tap, modern, ballet and jazz. The performance is free!

30. IUPUI Student Reading Series Seeks Writers, Musicians, and Performers
The IUPUI Student Readings Series is returning to Indy Reads Books (911 Massachusetts Ave.) for three more great readings this semester: Thursday, Feb. 21; Wednesday, March 27; and Thursday, April 25. All readings are at 7 p.m. We're looking for poets, writers, musicians, and stage performers of all types to be featured at our readings. 31. Drawings of Defiance: Art from the Syrian Revolution
Kenan Rahmani, an IUPUI alumni went inside Syria and saw the atrocities occurring there first-hand. He was able to meet with the people of a small city called Kafranbel. Since the beginning of the revolution, these brave civilians have used their creativity & artistic skills to ensure their voices are being heard. Kenan was able to bring back many of these ORIGINAL drawings with him. Join us on Thurs, February 21st in Campus Center Room 405 to see these one of a kind posters from the revolution.

After the international success of The History of Cardenio, Hoosier Bard returns to the Fringe with a world-premiere double bill: Shakespeare's original Measure for Measure, set in Italy, uncensored, alongside the more familiar version, adapted by Thomas Middleton and set in Vienna.

Ever wanted to go to China? Study with SPEA in Beijing at Peking University and learn about modern China's economic, political, governmental and public administration systems. Beyond the classes taught in English, students visit the Great Wall, Forbidden City and more. 38. Free Pink Shirts to Support Jags Hoops
The IUPUI women's basketball team hosts two games this week as they pursue the conference championship. The Jags currently are in 2nd place. Support the team Thursday night the 14th at 7pm as they host South Dakota State and come back Saturday afternoon the 16th at 3pm as they host North Dakota State. Free pink tshirts will be given out while supplies last at Saturday's game as the team raises awareness and support for breast cancer research. Student tickets are free at the door.

Brown Bag Lunch and Workshop: "Sourcing of Greener/Reusable Giveaways and Decor"
IUPUI Events Going Green third workshop is being held on Thursday, February 21 at the University Library in room 1126 from 12:00 p.m. -1:30 p.m. Rebecca Moreland, an "Event Expertista", and owner of The Moreland Group, and a panel of local event planners, will be presenting on the topic of greener giveaways, awards, invitations, decorations and signage. We will begin by examining some giveaways that are frequently given to event attendees and determine if they meet the "green" criteria that we will be discussing. There is no charge for this event. The maximum number that we are able to accommodate is 40 attendees. To register send an email to Susie Benko at sbenko@iupui.edu. 41. Memory, Language, and Intellectual Abilities Study
If you or your child is between ages 3 and 29 years of age, you might qualify for a new research study.

Researchers at IU School of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery are conducting a research study at Riley Hospital to investigate differences in language and neurocognitive skills between people with normal hearing and people with cochlear implants. Study participants will receive free evaluations consisting of language and ability tests and behavior questionnaires. Participants will be reimbursed $20 per hour for your time in testing and $20 per hour for your time in travel.

42. Type 2 Diabetes Research Study
IUSM Department of Pediatric Endocrinology/Diabetology is looking for individuals who were diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes PRIOR to age 18 to participate in a study requiring only one visit. The goal of the study is to learn more about the relationships between certain genes and type 2 diabetes. 43. Research Study for Adolescents with Juvenile Primary Fibromyalgia Syndrome
Doctors at IU School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry are conducting a research study of an investigational medication for children, age 13-17, with Juvenile Primary Fibromyalgia Syndrome (JPFS). Study involves up to 16 visits and 41 wks. Study procedures, mental health evaluations, and medication or placebo are at no charge. Is your baby an Infant Scientist yet? Located in Riley Hospital for Children, we are currently recruiting 8 and 9 month old infants for an international study on language development. 45. Riley Hospital for Children Needs Your Help!
Riley Hospital for Children needs healthy full-term infants between 2 and 36 months of age to evaluate how the lung grows.

The evaluation takes approximately 2-3 hours. You will be compensated for your time participating in the evaluation.

46. Research Study for Parents of Older Children and Adolescents with Problems
Are you and your teen having problems getting along? Indiana University School of Social Work needs parents of youth ages 10 to 16 to take part in a study. The study will look at the effects of using an online multimedia program and guided discussion for parents of challenging youth. Online participation is anonymous. Participants completing the study receive $40.00.

47. Genital Herpes Study
Adults at least 18 years old with recurrent genital herpes (between four and 9 outbreaks a year) are needed for a study to test a new drug not approved by the Food and Drug Association. There will be 12 scheduled visits over approximately 18 weeks. Research is done at Indiana University Infectious Diseases Research at IUPUI. Call 278-2945 or e-mail iuidr@iupui.edu. 48. Healthy Volunteers Needed to Donate Bone Marrow and Blood
Researchers in the IU Hematology/Oncology Dept are studying the biology of osteoclasts which are cells that release calcium from your bones. Participation in the study involves one study visit for donation of bone marrow and blood at Indiana University Hospital. No direct benefit will be derived from participation. To be eligible, you must be between 18 and 90, inclusive, and not be pregnant or allergic to xylocaine. You will be compensated for your time. If you are interested, call 278-5548.
