Jaguars players, fans and community leaders welcomed newly named head basketball coaches Todd Howard (men's program) and Austin Parkinson (women's program) Monday at the IUPUI Campus Center.

A crowd of IUPUI backers welcomed the two familiar faces to their new responsibilities.
Sports information director Ed Holdaway welcomed one and all to the event.
Moore talked about the national search that led back to Howard and Parkinson, both IUPUI veterans.
Moore and his coaches talked about the status of the two programs.
Parkinson, who was the interim women's coach last season, talked about fulfilling his goal of being a Division I coach by age 30.
For Howard, the announcement culminated a 16-year journey from Ron Hunter's top assistant to Hunter's successor.

... as did players from Howard's 2011-12 squad.
The atrium in the Campus Center provided a fitting space for the announcements.
Current players and parents joined in the fun, along with numerous former players who are still part of the IUPUI family.
Fans on hand got new IUPUI pennants, as well as a dessert reception of punch and cookies.
Howard got a warm welcome from his players.
The new coaches also touched base with Andrew Klein, Channcellor Charles Bantz's chief of staff and a regular at Jaguars games.
