Volunteers head out from the Campus Center for their Day of Caring assignments.
One project involved mulching trees near the intersection of 11th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
With the Clarian Health Building by the Downtown Canal behind them, students place mulch around one of the trees in the area.
A lot of the Day of Caring projects involved a bit of "heavy lifting."
The MLK project required a lot of mulch to help 190 area trees.
The I-65 interchange and the the campus buildings at the north end of the canal are part of the area's backdrdop.
Another crew took charge of a planting project near the downtown circle.
The trees and shrubs give a welcome dash of green to the downtown landscape.
There was no mistaking the IUPUI Day of Caring crews, adorned in their bright orange shirts.
A dumpster near the Business-SPEA breezeway came in for its own "urban renewal," courtesy of a diligent paint crew.
