Schmenner, the associate dean of the Kelley School of Business at IUPUI, is a world-renowned expert in the field of production, operations management and manufacturing logistics.
He is the Richard M. and Myra Louise Buskirk Professor of Manufacturing Management in the school and is a past co-director of the Center for International Business Education & Research at IUPUI. Schmenner, who taught at Duke, Harvard and Yale universities, has won multiple awards for outstanding teaching, both from IUPUI and from the Indiana University system.
Schmenner's ability to apply theoretical solutions to real-world problems for manufacturing and industrial firms and to logistical concerns has made him a valuable resource both in Indianapolis, throughout the state and beyond. He has put his expertise to use as a consultant with more than 80 companies, industrial groups and numerous governmental agencies or departments, including federal, state and local.
He is a member of the venture fund advisory board for the Solution Center, one of IUPUI's key connections to the Indianapolis business, governmental, nonprofit and arts communities. In the research field, Schmenner delves into such areas as manufacturing strategy, factory productivity and locations of manufacturing and service operations.
