Purdue School of Science at IUPUI
Jennifer Phan, a senior psychology major in the Purdue School of Science, plans to become a pediatrician, and is preparing for that goal by both working and volunteering at Riley Hospital for Children on the IUPUI campus.
Phan, ranked IUPUI's number-one female student during the 2004-05 and 2003-04 academic years, is a regular on the dean's list and has received numerous scholarships and leadership awards.
She's been active in shaping IUPUI's growing campus life, serving as a member of the Student Activities Programming Board and the Honors Club, and helps organize the annual IUPUI Dance Marathon fund-raising event.
In addition to her volunteer work for Riley, St. Vincent Hospital and the United Way Day of Caring, she works in Riley's infant language lab, testing her interest in a research-related career by studying how language dialects affect an infant1s ability to recognize words.
